This half- day tour allows tourists to get a more thorough overview of the city and its perimeters. You will be picked up from your hotel at 1:30 p.m., and begin the tour at the main plaza (Plaza de Armas) and the Cathedral, remarkable for its Baroque style architecture and paintings which reflect the Cusqueñan School of Art. Next stop is the temple Qoricancha and Santo Domingo Convent. This site offers the opportunity to appreciate impressive Incan architecture and engineering. You will then head to the outskirts of the city, to Sacsayhuaman, located 3 km away and overlooking the city. This imposing complex is notable for its extraordinary megalithic and zig-zagging construction, employing enormous blocks of carved stone and displaying impressive architecture. It also still serves as the site of the Inti Raymi celebration (Sun Celebration) every June. Our next site is Qenqo, an ancient temple where public ceremonies were held, accompanied by a labyrinth of underground passageways. Next you’ll visit Pucapucara, the administrative center of the Incan empire before finally heading to Tambomachay, a ceremonial center dedicated to the worship of water. Here the tour will finish and you will be transported back to your accommodation for around 6:00pm.
